Schools having late starts

Kids need more sleep and school needs to start later so kids can get that sleep

Dear Future president Mr.Trump

I believe that every school across America should have at the least one late start every week. Schools need to start later because as of right now kids across America are not getting as much sleep as they should in order to stay healthy.

“The average kid has a busy day. There's school, taking care of your pets, running around with friends, going to sports practice or other activities, and doing your homework” Kids on average have some of the busiest days and do the most in their time. Kids are very energetic at times and at other times they can be very out of it. Most of the times kids aren’t filled with energy and excitement is because they're tired and didn’t get enough sleep. “When your body doesn't have enough hours to rest, you may feel tired or cranky, or you may be unable to think clearly.” When you don’t get enough sleep you will be cranky and out of it. Sometimes you might just snap at people and get into a fight over something that isn’t worth fighting for. For example, at school completing a task when you get sleep is easy but when you don’t get enough sleep you think is impossible.

“Sleep disorders and chronic sleep loss can put you at risk for: Heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, Irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, diabetes.” Sleep is very important, if you don’t get enough of it, you may die. Overall health is the most important aspect of life and you need to pay attention to it or else you may get diseases. You need to get enough sleep so you can go to school and actually be ready to learn and also have a good attitude. School’s need to realize that once a week kids shouldn’t have to wake up early and get to school when they are barely awake. Also first period classes usually result in the worst overall grade. So I ask schools would you rather have kids come in later and be ready for school or start early and have everyone grumpy and cranky?

Every once in awhile kids need that extra little bit of sleep to be more with it and it's not only kids, adults need it as well. Sleep causes depression and diseases which could take you out of school. That’s why it’s going to be mandatory for every school in America to have at least one late start per week.
