Animal Cruelty and Captivity

Animal cruelty and captivity is a serious issue.

 Dear Future President,

Animal cruelty and captivity is a serious issue. More than one million animals die each year. More than 50 million animals are violently killed for fashion every year. Animals have souls just like us.

Animal cruelty and captivity affects the animal kingdom more than you'd think. Many different mammals are treated terribly. Marine animals are suffering for our entertainment. "...And what of the capture process itself? It violently disrupts social groups, splits up families, and snatches individual animals from the water (Humane Society, 1)". A different example of this brutal practice would be zoos. "Zoos teach people that it is acceptable to interfere with animals and keep them locked up in captivity, where they are bored, lonely, deprived of all control over their lives, and far from their natural home (PETA, 2)". A lot of animals in circuses are beaten and kept in captive for many hours on end. "By presenting animals as performers in the big top, it teaches kids that animals can be manipulated for entertainment (CAPS,2)".

A way to save the animals from cruelty and abuse is letting them go free. We could closely monitor those animals when they are in their natural habitats. Their behavior would be all natural. Animals are captured mostly for entertainment. That includes zoos, circuses, aquariums, and more. "Animals in movies, circuses, and zoos are denied everything that is natural and important to them (PETA Kids, 2)". Animals belong in their natural habitats with their families. Tigers are one of the sufferers. They pace back and forth to deal with stress from being in captivity. "Due to stress, captive wild cats breed poorly, which is why it is hard to maintain population levels...(TIger, 1)".

Animal cruelty and captivity is a disgusting thing used for our entertainment. Animals have souls like us. They are beaten and locked up for long periods of time for our entertainment. Dear future president, please release animals in captivity being treated cruelly back into their natural habitat.

Sincerely,

Marie H.
