Gun control

1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear Future President! Every day over and over again are people killed from guns. We hear it every day in the news and it doesn’t stop whatever people are doing. Is that it? It is a present for us to live, to create our own life how we want to live it. Just to get killed because one person doesn’t like his or her life? In my opinion that doesn’t sound right. You should do something against it. You should do something and not just say something. I don’t think it is fair that uniquely and innocent people have to die. It is so easy to get a gun and there is no reason to have one. Another thing is that you can’t really see a small gun. You can put it so easily in your back without someone noticing it. In my opinion nobody should be allowed to have a gun or at least there should be stricter rules if someone wants to own a gun. There are a lot of accidents with guns where children find their parents gun and accidentally kill someone. “But somehow the boy, William Anderson, found a gun belonging to his father. The gun went off and killed William.” (http://www.washingtonpost.com/people/christopher-ingraham). I know that a lot of people say that looking through all the houses to find all the guns is too intimate which is true but making a safety test to know how to store a gun would stop accidents and it is not a big thing. On the other hand people ask “What is about the military and huntings and sports.” (http://gun-control.procon.org/). Of course there would be some exceptions for this because what is a military if it has nothing to fight with? There are also a lot of suicides with guns. But “Some people think suicide isn’t even relevant to the gun issue.” (https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.google.com/url?q%3Dhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v%253DbX4qUsgHa4Y%26amp;sa%3DD%26amp;ust%3D1478052288254000%26amp;usg%3DAFQjCNF2jYqU8Pfpbbb3ZMykoWb-6hwGrg&sa=D&ust=1478052288303000&usg=AFQjCNEMmXE0evcz47_HEiuL3tW6744RYA). I know what these people mean that if people with problems really want to kill themself that they find another way. But it is so “easy” to take the gun and if there is no gun the people would properly think more about it and maybe decide not to kill themself. My last thing I would like to say is that people say “[...] that gun ownership is necessary for self-protection” (http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/30/opinion/frum-guns-safer/). They think that criminal people wouldn’t try get into a house if the people who live there have a gun. But my question is why does it work in other countries. For example Germany where I come from. You can’t get there easily a gun and not many people have a gun. Of course some people got a gun illegally but that always happens. I know that the gun control is a very big problem and there is a lot more about it but I would wish that there are at least stricter rules and safety tests for owning a gun. It is not ok that uniquely people are killed and that dumb accidents happen. So please do something against it. Even if you have a gun talk with your children about it and look for a safe place for your gun. I want to end this letter with this thought: Why do you want a gun? Do you really want to kill a person? Do you want to live with this thought that you killed a person? I know that I don’t want to live like this. Sincerely yours, Hermine S.

I'm going to talk about gun control in the USA.
