Homelessness In The U.S

Imagine being homeless, sleeping on the cold, hard ground with nothing. No clean clothes, no money for food, nothing to drink, not even a family to talk to. We need to make a change to try to make a big decrease in the number of homeless people in the U.S.

Dear Future President, October 30, 2016

Imagine being homeless, sleeping on the cold, hard ground with nothing. No clean clothes, no money for food, nothing to drink, not even a family to talk to. We need to make a change to try to make a big decrease in the number of homeless people in the U.S.

According to google Homelessness is the condition of people without a permanent dwelling, such as a house or apartment. People who are homeless are most often unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure and adequate housing. It says in http://www.socialsolutions.com/blog/2016-homelessness-statistics/ that There is over 560,000 homeless people right now in the U.S. One fourth of those people being children. I read in http://www.greendoors.org/facts/general-data.phpthat More people are homeless right now more than ever because of all the veterans, disabled people and single parents. In Texas most homeless people are women and children. Homeless people are everywhere. It tells you in http://www.nytimes.com/ that Homeless people are four times more likely to get sick than the average person. Many homeless people are former foster children or runaways, Or were abused at home. Most homeless people had a hard life as a kid.

I think that it is terrible how many people are homeless. I think that if we did more to help the disabled people there would be less homeless people because most people that are homeless have disabilities. There is actually more homeless people than we think. According to http://www.npr.org/ About 7 % of homeless people live in rural areas. It is impossible to find out exactly how many people in this world are actually homeless. Also it says in http://www.nytimes.com/ pretty soon there is going to be even more people on the streets because they are shutting down some homeless shelters. I think that more people should donate money to homeless shelters and help out the homeless as much as they can. Many homeless people die every year because of being sick. They have to stay out in the cold, in the snow, in the rain and in the heat. Also it’s really dangerous to stay out all night.

Some people might say that homeless people are just lazy and don’t want to get a job, but most homeless people can’t even get a job because of mental illnesses or other reasons. It is so easy to become homeless, as easy as losing your wallet. Most people that become homeless are going to be homeless for the rest of their lives. Also all the kids that are homeless aren’t going to be able to grow up as a normal kids, they also aren’t going to get the best education that they could have if they weren’t homeless. Homeless people are struggling every day to survive.

I think that people need to be more grateful for what they have because some people literally have nothing. Homelessness is increasing more and more every year. We have to do something to decrease the amount of homeless people in the U.S.

Sincerely,
