Gun Control
Gun laws are the cause of much violent crime in America and need to be changed so that it is difficult to obtain guns and a person owning an illegal firearm will find himself with a stiff prison sentence even as a first-time offender.
Dear future President,
Having a gun to your head from a policeman when you are eight years old is terrifying and something you won’t forget in your life. After having a hot, steamy gun to the cold skin of your head, you're grateful to be alive afterwards. A lot of people go through it everyday. I was lucky enough that the trigger wasn’t pulled. I propose for you to control guns so less incidents occur.
According to the CDC, the stats of the number of homicides with guns is way too high. It is 10,945 and that’s the most by any country in the years 2009-2013. This is making our country look bad. Our country is known for juicy hamburgers, football, and mass shootings. I want our country to be known for hamburgers, sports, and unity. I want our country to come together instead of shooting up innocent schools, movies theaters, and public places.
There are different ways to lower mass shootings and if we get everyone on the same page, it will lower dramatically. One way to lower the number of mass shootings is have every state in the country have the same laws about guns and make them stricter. Some states are strict about guns and other states are relaxed and do not seem to care until someone dies from a gun. 10,945 homicides from a gun is way too high; let's bring that down a lot and let the police handle things with guns so some criminals won’t have guns. Making the United States stricter can help a lot. If you’re a criminal overseas and you can’t get a gun over there, why can you come to America and buy a gun? So making our country stricter will help.
Another way to lower the mass shooting number is keeping the mentally ill from possessing guns. Because they are most of the people that go to a school full of little kids and shoots up the school or a movie theater. Violence doesn’t solve anything; it just creates more hate for people.
Let’s all come together as a country and lower mass shootings and make stricter gun laws the same in every state.
