Abortion

Why there should be restrictions on why they happen

Dear Future Mr President:

My name is Ethan Justice, and I would like to discuss the abortion issue. In my opinion, abortion is not a humane way to deal with an unwanted pregnancy. In some ways you could even call it murder. When women get an abortion they are taking the life from an innocent unborn child, it’s inhumane, if the adults made the mistake of making a baby, why should the baby pay for the adults mistakes?

There are some problems with having no legal limits on abortion, such as the millions of women who use abortion as a form of birth control. According to the Guttmacher Institute’s studies, every year, half of women getting abortions have had a previous one, and according to reports by the CDC 8.5% of abortions in 2010 were done by women who had had three or more previous abortions, showing that 13,345,000 women are having abortions as a method of birth control. Another problem with abortion is that studies show that at the time the abortion is performed, which is around 13 weeks, the fetus is fully capable of experiencing pain, and studies show that the fetus can feel pain as early as 7.5 weeks old. There are estimates made by the World Health Organization(WHO) that 40-50 million abortions are performed each year, this adds up to about 125000 abortions daily(who.int). This shows that too many babies are killed each year, because the parents did accept the responsibilities of a child, this is an inhumane way of giving up an unwanted child.

According to Lifenews.com, “After almost 40 years of legalized abortions throughout the United States — and longer in states that okayed abortions pre-Roe — the U.S. population has been decimated to the point that the nation is seeing the lowest population growth since the 1930s.”

This shows that due to abortion the U.S. population growth has decreased due to parents not wanting children. Lifenews.com also says, “Bloomberg News has more on how the U.S. fertility rate is at historically low levels, though abortion is never mentioned as a cause, of course.” Proving that abortion is causing a population and fertility decrease. There are also less adoptions due to the fact that people are getting abortions. The Guttmacher Institute says that the rate of adoptions has declined by approximately 37% since abortion was legalized. Studies show that abortion can also lead to women committing suicide. According to NRL News Today, “Two studies from Finland show that women who had abortions were 6 to 7 times more likely to commit suicide than women who gave birth.” This shows that 85.7 percent of women who have an abortion will later take their own lives.

If murdering a pregnant mother considered a double homicide, why is abortion not considered murder. After reading this letter I hope you take action against this problem and put restrictions on abortion.

Sincerely,

Ethan Justice
