Animal Abuse

There should be stricter laws against animal abuse

Dear Future President:

My plan is to talk to you about animal abuse. I think there should be more efficient, less abusive pet owners. The U.S. is in need of more animal shelters. An example of the need of more animal shelter is that the U.S. has 7.6 million pets that enter animal shelters nationwide every year.

Animal abuse is wrong and should be illegal everywhere. Animal abuse should definitely be stopped in the U.S. All 50 states have felony animal cruelty provisions. Animal abuse should never happen because in most jurisdiction, animal cruelty is most commonly charged as a misdemeanor offense. In the U.S. all pets are innocent and shouldn’t be abused. According to Companion for Animal Overpopulation that every year in the U.S.there is an estimated 6 to 8 million lost, abandoned, or unwanted dogs and cats enter animal shelters, this is exactly why we need more animal shelters (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals).

Animals have just as much rights as humans do. Animal abuse is the infliction of physical pain, suffering or death upon an animal, when it isn’t necessary for purposes lie training, discipline, to procure food or to release the animal from incurable suffering, no of those are a reason why a person should abuse an animal. Animal abuse is illegal and should be stopped permanently. Animal abuse should be stopped because nobody likes animal abuse. Abusing animals is horrible and no one should abuse animals. There should be no animal abuse because animal abuse is against the law. Nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in connection with domestic violence.

You may think that animal abuse isn’t something that needs to be stopped right away but because of animal abuse there are lots of different animals being abused and killed. Animals have feelings to and I feel like animal abuse needs to be stopped as soon as it can be stopped. This may be hard to do because not a lot of people notice animal abuse but if we can get more people to notice animal abuse then animal abuse might actually be stopped.

Sincerely,
