Immigration system
Some things that could be fixed on how the immigration system is today.
Dear Next President,
For years the deportation system always has been an issue there's been times when it was promised or just said that this would be fixed but as time goes by small changes happen but immigrant families really want that big change that will free them from their fear of being deported.
It is most likely that immigrant families come to the U.S to give themselves and or their families a better life.
In the article “Obama's promise to focus deportation policy on 'felons not families' has fallen short” written by Christie Thompson and Ana Flagg argues that even though obama had promised in 2014 that immigration officials would make it a priority to only deport immigrants who had committed serious crimes but it has shown that 60 percent of the immigrants deported did not have a criminal record and if they did the only crime was entering or reentering the country illegally.
In the article “Obama's promise to focus deportation policy on 'felons not families' has fallen short” written by Christie Thompson and Ana Flagg quoted “Felons, not families. Criminals, not children. Gang members, not a mom who’s working hard to provide for her kids.” this quote i think speaks to people just by saying that there are times when people who follow the stereotype that all immigrants are bad because they see someone of that race do something bad others right away think that all the people of that race are the same.
I believe a way this issue could be fixed is to stick to a law that lets immigrants stay if they have been here for a certain amount of years, maybe has a child who was born in the U.S, and has no serious crimes and even though this is like the “law” today but its not working very well. I believe that you should help with making this law work and actually give all these immigrant families the relief and hope. Once again congratulations on your big win and thank you for listening .
Sincerely,
Magaly
