Distracted Driving
People get distracted while driving and get in a fatal car crash
Dear Future President,
People that text and drive can get into a car crash or kill someone or themselves because of getting distracted while driving and if you are driving at 55mph and looking at a text for 5 seconds that's enough time to travel a football field.
21% of teen drivers are involved in a fatal car crash because of distracted driving. 35% of teens admitted texting or calling while driving and 660,000 drivers attempt to use their phones while driving. About 330,000 injuries occur each year caused by texting 11 teens die every day as a result of texting while driving.
Answering a text takes about 5 seconds and traveling at 55mph that's enough time to travel a length of a football field and you are not looking at the road. Each day in the united states more than 9 people are killed because of distracted driving and more than 1153 people are injured in crashes. More than 3000 teens die each year from text driving and 2700 teens are killed in drunk driving.
And i think you should make a small device that blocks the driver's seat from getting any calls or texts to make them safe and other people safe to.
Sincerely, Cesar V.
