Women's Power

Women should not suffer from gender difference.

Dear future president of the United States,

Hello.

Today, I would like to ask how women’s rights need to improve even more after you become elected to the president of the United States.

In today’s society, women’s rights gradually improving and equalized as men, but women’s are still having trouble with wage gap, and sexually abused. I do not think that women should treated like this. So I would like to ask future president of the United States to help women, not just in the United States but in the world.

Women are the strong workforce right now in the society. Women are graduated college and received the degrees in higher percentage than men. Those smart women unfortunately payed less than men. “In 2015, female full-time workers made only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 20 percent” (Pay). Women are payed less than men on every occupation. According to IWPR research, “it will take 44 years --or until 2059—for women to finally reach pay parity” (Pay), women need to wait another 44 years to pay fairly. This is insane. Women were working very hard and have equal or greater ability than men to work. Women need to have equal payment as men. Please do not discriminate by gender.

Women’s are also suffered with sexual violence for long period of time. Women are sexually abused every two minutes in America and “average, there are 288,820 victims (age 12 or older) are rape and sexual assault each year in the United States” (Victims). Younger women, under 30 years old, are in higher percentage to be targeted. “1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime” (Victims). Many people think that sexual abuse is not familiar or common in the society but it is happening every two minutes and one in sixth are been the victim in the United States. Any women or children can be the target. Women should not be in this dangerous situation. Please help those women from sexual assault.

In conclusion, women living in this country suffered from sexual discrimination, wage gap, and sexual violence, which is the major issues to solve for future president of the United States. Please consider solving this problem as soon as possible to save women and help the economy. Women can support our country and the world.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Wakana Uota
