Letter to Future President
Gun Laws
November 7, 2016
Dear Future President,
Regarding gun laws, I believe they should stay the same. There needs to be restrictions on who is eligible to receive their conceal and carry and actually purchase a gun. There are laws that allow one to use a gun in their own household, including defending yourself from intruders. A carrier must be 21, have the correct training, and have an efficient background check. The Second Amendment gives the right to bear arms, and it is written in the constitution. There are many programs that inform the public on gun control issues. Many people are misinformed, which is why they think guns rights should be completely changed. It is understood that there is a lot of gun violence and terrorism attacks around the world, but that is mainly because the guns are in the wrong hands. If the laws we have now can help keep guns out of the wrong hands, then there shouldn't be an issue. Guns are not the problem, itβs the ones pulling the trigger. No matter the strictness of the laws, there will always be horrible incidents. Banning guns would not change the situation we have now, which is why the laws do not need to change.
