Racial Discrimination

Colin Kaepernick refusing to stand during the national anthem disrespects all veterans. This is why racial problems need to be solved or America could be in its second civil war.

Dear Future President,

I am sure you’re aware of what athletes all around the country are doing during the national anthem. I believe that you need to do something about this problem, because the athletes aren't helping racial problems in the country. The athletes are disrespecting those who lost their life in battle and those who are in battle now. I hope that when you are elected president, you will help the racial problems in America. So that our veterans can be respected and remembered in honor, not that they were disrespected to make our country aware of racial problems.

In the NFL’s article on why Colin Kaepernick sat during the national anthem he stated, "I am not looking for approval. I have to stand up for people that are oppressed. ... If they take football away, my endorsements from me, I know that I stood up for what is right." Colin Kaepernick, is influencing people all around the country about his views on the racial unrest in the country. What he is failing to do is to show Americans that there is things being done. Future President, America has racial unrest since the civil war. That needs to be changed, we need to look to our foreign allies on how they stopped racial unrest because what has been going on in America is simply a disgrace. Why can every other country in the world make sure everyone is included and America can’t?

Colin Kaepernick, has made the country very aware of its racial problems. But he hasn’t presented a solution. Future President I’m sure you’re very aware that you are going to have to fix this, but I want to make sure you know how important this issue is. If the racial problems stay unfixed we will have a second civil war on our hands because we couldn't solve our problems the mature way and had to return to violence.

My solution would include more interest to the minorities in the country, and no race profillaling. America is a country for second chances, everyone is an immigrant, and everyone is a minority in some part of the world. We need to give minorities more of a voice in politics and basically everything. Every problem in the country, every headline, everything we have to put a color to everything. White man shoots black man. Black men fight white police officer. As a solution I propose that minorities get more of a say in government and everything because this country is on the verge of war and this discrimination needs to be stopped. The effectiveness of this solution is purely based on how well the minorities are represented and are treated.

In conclusion, when you become president you need to solve all the racial problems in America. Colin Kaepernick made lots of americans aware of the racial problems, and left it to no one to fix. If racial discrimination continues, america could be on the verge of war.

Good Luck,

Kayla W.
