Budget Cuts

Dear Future President,

I am a resident of North Miami, FL, and a student from Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High and I am writing this letter because I am very concerned with the recent budget cuts that has caused some of our great school and after school programs to close.

I have been attending Mourning Senior for the past three years and have seen some major changes made to school due to budget cuts. During my freshman year, I was exposed to a variety different clubs and programs at Mourning Senior High that interested me. Unfortunately the following year, one of my favorite art after school programs along with other programs that my school offered shutdown due to budget cuts. If you, the next president truly believe in our children’s future, then you consider reinvesting back to into these programs to give us, the students to have a place to unleash our potential so we can strive in the future.

Many of my fellow peers and classmates firmly agree that the budget cuts is what’s standing in the way for our future. With these reinvestments, I truly believe that we can take a few steps closer to a brighter future, one where our students can truly unleash their potential.

Thank you for considering this matter.

Sincerely,

B.De La Fuente
