Excessive background checks should be done for those requesting guns. This makes it able to check whether the person requesting a gun is a criminal or a potential terrorist. We also want to make sure that we are not handing out guns to the mentally ill. Any person with a criminal background or mental illness should not be allowed to carry a gun. The reasoning for that is because anyone with a criminal background is more likely to use the given gun for violence. Any person with a  mental illness might use the gun for violence involuntarily.  Any potential terrorist carrying a gun will most likely use it to destroy the American dream. We believe that owning a gun is an American right to protection of ourselves and our family. We need a gun to protect ourselves from terrorism and and criminals that are able to carry a gun.
