Homelessness

There is way to many homeless people in the US and we need to do something about it.

Dear Next President,

We need to figure out a solution to getting every homeless person in America off the streets. There are just way too many people that don't have warm food and don't have jobs to get money to get themselves off the streets.

What I think we need to do is focus more on this matter and we need to spend more money trying to help the homeless. At least get more shelters and places for them to stay with more warm food and clothes.

There are over half a million homeless people today that's a lot of people. And almost one quarter of the homeless are children. Also there are “over 57,000 veterans that are homeless each night” as Bill Quigley says in the “10 facts about being homeless” article he wrote. This means there are way too many veteran homeless people and we need to do something about it.

The National Alliance to End Homelessness wrote an article on homelessness in 2016 and they say “The national rate of homelessness in 2015 fell to 17.7 homeless people per 10,000 people in the general population from 18.3 in 2014.” This is good but we still need it to fall even more, so we need to keep doing what we are already doing and just put a little more money into it.

Overall we need to make a change to get homeless children a better life and to get the veterans who served our country what they deserve instead of sleeping on the streets. No one deserves this and we need to help.

Sincerely,
