Police brutality

Is police brutality a major problem in the United States?

Dear Future President,

Police brutality has to stop. The rate of police brutality has increased throughout the years with inexperienced officers using unnecessary force. As seen on YouTube or TV, you can clearly see that several police officers have used lethal weapons on citizens that don’t pose as a big threat. In 1999, the U.S Department of Justice indicated that 422,000 people 16 years and older have been in contact with police that have used force that wasn’t needed. Cops have to understand the line between using a lethal weapon and using a non-lethal weapon. They tend to panic and use their gun on innocent people that does not pose a threat. In conclusion, police officers should be trained again to prevent further tragedies.

Sincerely,

Calvin
