Dear President,

Hello, my name is Vasily and I would like to bring your attention to depression. It is a major ongoing occurrence worldwide, and it's an issue that we need to bring attention to.  Many people put on a fake smile and fake laugh but deep down inside they are struggling with no support other than substance abuse or self harm.  

I feel there should be more support groups for people struggling with depression people should not have to feel ashamed  and should be able to have that extra support available for them. 25 million Americans suffer from depression each year. Over 50 percent of all people who die by suicide suffer from major depression. If one includes alcoholics who are depressed, this rises to over 75 percent. Depression affects nearly 5-8 percent of Americans ages 18 and over in a given year.

In conclusion, I feel us as Americans should support one another and be able to speak up. I personally have seen the affects of depression throughout students, friends and loved ones, I feel if the American people cannot help one another out there is no hope for America or the world to stand together as one.
