Dear Mr. /Mrs. President:
I am writing you as a concerned resident of the United States of America to communicate that gun control should be stricter.
Gun Control is a big issue on the United States and this need to change. Because of various reasons our justice system cannot always protect us which is why the majority of people is looking for some other ways of staying safe. However, a gun is still a weapon. Living in a house with guns can increase your odds of death. A lot of people have had catastrophic experiences with firearms that they did not meant to happen. Guns contribute to domestic violence and it can result in misfortune event.
Places with more guns have more homicides. Letting people have the freedom to possess a weapon increases the possibilities of murder. A 2007 study by Harvard School of Public Health researchers, showed the correlation after controlling for robbery rates. Developed countries with more guns generally have more homicide. States within the US with more guns have more homicide.
We should take measures in order to reduce the amount of guns people possess, otherwise it may lead to a great number of tragedies. I am writing this letter to support the restriction of possessing a firearm. Adding complication to the process could prevent the magnitude of crimes on the United States of America. The federal courts have been agreed that the Second Amendment protects only the collective right of the states to maintain militias, and not an individual’s right to own guns.
Thank you for considering this matter.
Sincerely,
Tomas Rusi
