Gun Safety

Gun safety in the United States

Dear Future President of the United States

I believe gun safety in the United States is a serious problem, the second amendment states " A well guarded  Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The constitution was signed in 1787 by the founding fathers, guns that were manufactured in the 18th century ranged from handguns from fully sized rifles, not fully automatic assault rifles and high powered pistols.

Some people may dispute by saying that it's ridiculous to assume that the founding fathers wouldn't have been able to foresee a technological advancement in weaponry in the future, which is a fair point, but gun safety is a real issue in the United States, I believe that people of military or law enforcement should be the only people permitted to bear arms.

Another argument that could be made is that people could still get the weapons illegally. But don't you think many gun violence accidents could be prevented, this year, there have been almost 300 more accidental shootings in the United states than there have been actual offensive shootings.

this concludes my letter on my opinion on Gun safety, thank you for taking the time to read this.

Will G.
