Racism

Helping and letting others know about people who suffer racism, and who causing them.

September 26, 2016

Dear Next President,

Imagine you were walking down center city, and a group of people pass by you and look at you like you were nothing. As they’re walking by you, you hear them talk negative about you. Most minorities get treated differently than others. This affects their daily lives. For example getting a job or receiving any type of service such as going to a doctor's office, a restaurant or even school. there has been an increase in police brutality were law enforcement has been profiling minorities. “Black and latino men are three times more likely than white man to be stopped by the police and have their cars searched, even though white man are four times more likely to have weapons or drugs.” Which means policemen need to more likely search white man more often as blacks and latinos. (https://abagond.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/some-facts-about-racism) “Black youths arrested for drug possession are 48 times more likely to wind up in prison than white youths arrested for the same crime under the same circumstances.” Policemen aren’t taking equal right seriously, this is why racism is the way it is today. https://abagond.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/some-facts-about-racism

“Students of colour are far less likely to be put in honours courses even after you take test scores and grades into account.” Every student and child deserve their education, dont matter what skin color you are we in 2016 get over it, we all deserve education. https://abagond.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/some-facts-about-racism

Minorities are the ones who are affected the most but really anybody can be affected by racism. People should know about racism because it affects so many people not only in the U.S but other states too.

One way racism is being decreased is by having protest and advocating for those who are being discriminated against. Another way is voting because people use this as a way to change laws and policies. In the schools the staff should have students participate in making posters, having assembly, and after school programs that will get students aware of the problems. Dear Next President, racism has been affecting our society and becoming the creation of problems. I would like you to make more policies and laws that will hold more people accountable.

Sincerely, Tania Baez
