Dear Future Mr. or Ms. President,

Animal cruelty is a big problem in the U.S either if it occurs on accident or on purpose it still is a big problem that something needs to be done about. My letter is about animal cruelty we can’t treat animals like lesser beings are just plain cruel. We can’t take advantage of them and treat them abusively or just forget them. Animal cruelty is a big problem that kills many pets including dogs,cats, and livestock, some people do this stuff on purpose but others don't realize they are killing animals. We need to stop this issue of domestic violence.

Animal Hoarding is when owners have too many pets than they can afford to take care for and then they accidentally neglect the animals causing them to die. Most of the victims from animal hoarding die from starvation, dehydration, illness, and suffocation. The ASPCA which stand for The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals states, “It has been estimated that there are 900 to 2,000 new cases of animal hoarding every year in the United States, with a quarter of a million animals falling victim.”(ASPCA). This shows how we need to only get animals if we are sure we can take care of them.

Dog Fighting is inhumane because we are raising dogs in a lonely and brutal life style, injecting drugs and formula, and then force them to fight other dogs. The dogs that are born into dogfighting are lonely due to isolation and aggressive after their owner treats them cruelly. They are injected with muscle mass drugs increasing the strength and aggressiveness of the dog.The ASPCA which stand for The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals states, “although fights are not usually to the death, many dogs succumb to their injuries later, and losing dogs are often discarded, killed or brutally executed as part of the “sport.”(ASPCA)

People may say that no this doesn’t happen often or it doesn’t happen in the U.S. This actually happens a lot more than you think. According to the The Humane Society of the United States or HSUS states that, nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in connection with domestic violence(HSUS). I am convinced that animal cruelty is a big problem and something needs to be done about it.
