Illegal Immigration

Immigration laws need to be made more leniant to become legal.

Dear future President,

Illegal immigrants need to be given an easier way to become legal citizens of the United States. Illegal immigrants cause American taxpayers a lot of money. Immigrants who come to the U.S. also do a lot for the economy when they become citizens of the U.S.

According to the “U.S. Newswire” paper by an anonymous source called illegal Immigration a $113 Billion a Year Drain on U.S. Taxpayers”, illegal immigrants cost U.S. taxpayers $113 billion a year because taxpayers are the ones who are paying for the immigrants education, welfare, basic living expenses etc. Later in that article, it states how living in a state that has a higher percentage of illegal immigrants has a higher average living expense. This is why I believe that immigrants are causing Americans money that they wouldn’t be spending without them. Immigrants have a very positive impact on the economy after they become legal according to most Americans. According to The Los Angeles Times article “When illegal immigration is asset, economists say:”, by Stephen Moore, 75% of Americans believe that immigrants have a positive impact on the U.S. economy. This is beneficial to America because one of the objectives of the American government is to make the majority of people happy with their decisions.

Immigrants can help the U.S. when they become legal. They also cause taxpayers a lot of money when coming into the country illegally. I believe to help this problem it needs to be made more lenient for an immigrant to become a legal citizen of the U.S. and to be easily available to everyone from everywhere.

Sincerely, Ben Munkelwitz
