letters to the President
Dear Future President,
I wanted to ask you to please consider the people who you are planning to deport back to their countries. These people do not deserve to be labeled as criminals and other foul names. These people, just like my parents, came for a new beginning. They do not want to leave their countries, their homes. They do not want to let go of their homeland and move away. They come because they want and need a new start.
My parents came to America during the war of Iraq. They came to ensure that when they had children, they could live without the same fear that my parents had: the fear of of struggling through poverty and the fear of searching for safety during the war. I was born in San Francisco in the year 2000. I grew up learning the American and Arab traditions. Everyday I am reminded how thankful I am that America accepted my family and I hope that America continues to give a new start to those who need it!
Sincerely, Hawraa Z.
