Police shootings

Mr/Mrs. President we should leave the police stations to sort out the supposed bias themselves, as they are taking action to solve any bias and lethal damage in their job. The stations are using new training programs, the reports may not be reliable, and my dad who is a police officer says that no one in his department needs to fight the urge to shoot a black man.

Police department around the nation have started new training program to reduce potentially lethal shootings and death. In New York stations are now reeducating police working on defusing a situation and keeping it from getting violent. In their new training they are doing role play exercises to reduce the chance a situation does arise that could lead to a shooting. In addition the police are being taught how to take down suspects without potentially lethal damage to the throat and chest.

Studies have shown that the statistics of police shootings on blacks may not be correct. In 2014 we were given the statistic that blacks were 21 times more likely to be shot than blacks; however, the use of simulations it has shown that police do not shoot unless they have to such as when the suspect has a weapon and is not complying, and non-police officers were shown to shoot more than the actual workers. The reports also may be inaccurate leaving out details of the situation what the suspect was doing and how the officer was feeling or seeing.

My father has worked as a cop for several years now and says that no one in his department wants to be shooting anyone. "The experience is dramatic even if you have done it before." Joel Z, my dad, said, and with the new training going on I doubt there will be more police shootings on the news. My dad has taken part in helping the police get along with the community. He became the skate board cop and hosted events such as autistic skates and opening up an area of the city where kids could skate where they wanted and not get in trouble for it.

Police shootings aren't going to be a problem for much longer as the police are changing their ways and are bonding with the community. Officers are working on ways that will lead to a non-lethal situation and preparing for if something does go wrong. Police stations should be left to solve its own problems as it is doing so well already we don't need to add any laws to make them change because they are doing it by themselves.
