Feminism

Women and men should have equal rights.

Dear Future President,

Our nation is supposed to have inequality, but we don’t have that cause its 2016 and men and women still don’t have equal rights. Our nation is supposed to have “equality” but we really don’t.

Women can do the same job as men. Statistics show that men get paid more than women. According to IWPR it would take 44 years for the pay average to be the same. There are also double standards it means that females can do something and get shamed, and if males do it they get praised. There are many unfair circumstances like how you can’t breastfeed in public. This is a part of motherhood and it’s necessary for a child to get their nutrients. The word feminist is very discriminated as Ellen page said “I don’t know why people are so reluctant to say they’re feminists, maybe some women just don’t care. But how couldn’t be any more obvious that we still live in a world where feminism is a bad word.” People really don’t understand what feminism means. It’s when you want equal rights for both men and women and one more than the other.

Would this be the world you want your own daughter to live in? There should be more feminism programs for young girls. They need to grow in an environment where they learn how to be a strong individual and talk about things that they are uncomfortable mentioning in front of their parents. Laws need to be created stating that you can breastfeed in public. Pay salary needs to be changed where there’s an equal amount for both. We should also try to help out foreign countries get a full education for females. Feminism should expand more cause were capable of doing a lot.

Let’s work together and create an environment where everyone feels equal. Where mothers can do what’s necessary for their child, young girls can feel welcome, and where women know they can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Meghan D.
