Gun Laws are Important

Gun laws are important so we should change them.

Dear Future President;

My name is Leah VD. I live in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and I go to school at Oskaloosa Christian School. I am 11 years old and in 6th grade.

I am writing to you to talk about gun laws. I am concerned about this because some people think that we should not be able to have guns. I think that we should because we need to protect ourselves. But I don’t think that people who have been in jail, have murdered, are drunk, or suicidal should be able to buy guns. On an average day,91 people get killed by guns. I think that is very serious.

This issue matters to me because gun are dangerous,but they also can help you. They help you because they protect you and they catch your food. But if a gun gets in the wrong hands,that could mean trouble. So I think you should be concerned because this is a very serious problem. Gun laws are very important.

You should care about this issue because it is important that we have guns. They protect us and they get food for us. They help us in a lot of ways. You should very much care about this issue.

I think you could write a law that Americans can have a gun. Just not if they had done murders, been in jail, are drunk, and are suicidal. But some people don’t think we can have guns. I think we can. So I believe that you should write a law that we can have guns.

I think as a Christian that guns can be helpful,like when you shot a deer,it can be used as meat if you have no meat. I chose a verse that talks about guns; it is 2 Corinthians 10: 4. It said, “The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish stronghold. Guns are helpful,but dangerous.

I ask that you please consider my request. You can make the USA a safer place. If you don’t do something fast, our nation won’t prosper if guns get in the wrong hands.

Sincerely,

Leah VD
