Police Not Taking Enough Actions After Robberies.

People’s houses are getting robbed everyday, but the police are not taking enough action. They just file a report and that’s it, in my opinion they must take bigger actions. This issue needs your attention, because hundreds of robbers are getting away with robbery, and they will continue to rob people’s houses, because the police don’t take enough action.

Dear Future President,

I am writing to you to address the issue that police are not taking enough actions when coming to the issue of home theft, burglaries, and robberies.

This is a big problem, especially in my neighborhood, that’s why I’m taking such an initiative in this problem. I believe that the police should help prevent robberies, and if there happens to be theft or robbery, I believe the police should take bigger initiatives rather than just filing a report. I’m saying this, because I’ve had my own experience. In the summer of 2010, my family and I went to Disneyland (L.A.), and when we got back our house was robbed. We called the police, and they said they were coming. While we were waiting for the police to come we noticed a green truck circling past our house and neighborhood a couple of times. My Dad’s friend went to go see what was happening, but when the people inside the van saw him approaching, they immediately sped off. My Dad’s friend took the car, and started following them, but the car sped off too fast, and he lost them. The police came after 45~60 minutes after we called, they checked out our house, and took the fingerprints that were left on our windows, etc., and then filed a report and just left. First of all, if the police had come faster, they could've tracked down the van that was circling our neighborhood and house and questioned them. Second of all, our back door which led to our garage and the garage door that led to the house were both broken because of the robbers, which means anyone can get into our house, and we have no protection. I believe that the police should have done more, like a night patrol to see if the people who robbed our house would come back and do something to us, because they know that there’s a free entrance to our house.

Another example, where I believe the cops didn’t take enough action is when a woman was home alone, and a man broke into her house. San Jose resident Heidi Quezada woke up at 1:50 AM when she heard a noise. She turned on her app that shows her security cameras, and she sees that there is a man outside her bedroom window. She called the police and they told her to lock her bedroom and wait. The man eventually popped the lock to the sliding glass door to her kitchen. The alarm rang, but he ignored it and walked bedroom to bedroom going through drawers and overturning a mattress. Finally, the man reached Heidi’s room, it was locked, but he tried to open it. Finally, Heidi screamed from inside saying, “The police are coming, they're going to shoot you and get away from my house." And that’s what he did, he jumped over a neighbor's fence took his skateboard and took off. The police came 13 minutes after Heidi called them. The police came immediately, because they knew the man was in there alone with Heidi and something dangerous could happen. But, after they came since the man was not there anymore they filed a report, and ABC 7 News interviewed her and nothing else happened. “Quezada turned over all of the surveillance video to San Jose police. She installed extra locks and even bought herself a gun.” I think the police should’ve done more, they have him on camera they should've investigated the neighborhood or done something about it.

As you can see, I believe that the police are not taking enough actions when theft and robbery is happening more frequently and frequently. There are thieves and robbers still out there, not being punished for what they have done, so I highly encourage you to start having the police take immediate actions when theft and robbery happen, and help prevent them.
