It's a Woman's Choice

Dear Next President, Women have been fighting for their rights since the beginning of time, trying to show the world that they are equal and able to make their own decisions, with that being said, the choice to have an abortion should be up to women. Women should be able to make their own decision on what’s good for them and their body; nobody else should have a say in the decision of being responsible for another life. Every year, about 21.6 million women experience an unsafe abortion (18.5 million in developing countries), because of their limited options (WHO). Abortion in the Unites States is legal but individual states can limit the use of abortion or create certain laws to make it illegal, called “trigger laws” (Abortion). Even in states where abortion is practiced, people need to be more educated about contraception and what it can do for you. Women need better access to safe options, otherwise, desperate women will do whatever it takes to ‘take care’ of their pregnancy, including going to extreme measures that could endanger them (Haddad). Abortion is a choice and one only the woman carrying the fetus can make. The world needs to see that they do not have a say in what goes on in a woman’s life and what qualifies her to be a mother when she is not equipped or in any way ready for a child.
