Global warming/pollution

Global warming is causing things to change and if we don't do something about it there may not be a future.

Global warming /pollution has been a big discussion the past years and for a good reason. The Earth has changed very much over the past years and the only ones to blame are us mammals that somehow managed to evolve into creatures that overpower any other species on earth, and now we're driving everything to the brink of extinction. Global warming /pollution is creating a growing danger in our ecosystem by affecting the temperature, causing an increase in weather events, and by killing a lot of our animals.

The past couple of years have seen a big increase in global warming which has broken many records. According to NASA, 2015 shattered records for the warmest year since records began in 1880. All the extra carbon that's released into our atmosphere is causing something called the greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide helps trap heat which causes the earth to get warmer, which is also the cause of the Antarctic ice melting. According to dw.com, ''the polar ice caps have melted faster in the last 20 years than in the last 10,000.''

The past years have also seen an increase in extreme weather events and we are likely to see a lot more in the decades to come. Global  warming is making hot days hotter,  flooding heavier, hurricanes stronger, and droughts drier. According to studies, scientists say that the increase in heat is causing longer drought periods in between  rainfall. Warming of the earth is causing rain to fall in heavier downpours. It also is causing droughts to  last longer and is reducing cold  days.                                                   Another thing global warming is affecting is our animal kingdom. According to climateandweather.net, climate change and pollution is affecting our animal kingdom and plants. They also say that if we don't reduce climate change a quarter of our animals, bird life, and plants could become extinct. One of the animals that's being affected because of global warming is the polar bears. The ice is melting at an astonishing rate and and is taking the living space of the polar bears.

Global warming is causing a big problem in our ecosystem and we need to make a change and fast.  When I was small I remember that September the temperatures would start dropping to the seventies; but, now we are in September and it still feels like summer. Some people may say that global warming isn't real and is not a big issue but if you take a good look around you realize that the world is changing, its not as cold as it use to be, and the polar ice melting is a good example of that. So to you, the next president, we need to make a change and fast before its too late.
