Suspicion of Tuition Fees

College tuition fees need to be DROPPED!

Dear Mr/Mrs President,

Haven’t you noticed the increase of college tuition?

Every year millions of college students drop out due to their lack of money because of high tuition funds. I myself, have a brother who's going to college in 2017, however after looking at the college’s tuition funds I thought to myself how he would ever pay for all of that with his own money. These are just some reasons why we need to bring down the college tuition funds.

Millions of american college students are in debt every year. According to Student Loan Hero, the average 2016 college student is in debt of 37,172 dollars every year . Rising college prices cause millions of college students to dropout of school causing many of them to stay in debt and causing the employment rate to go up. In 2009 to 2012 a study was taken to find out how many families would cross off the schools with high tuition prices was from 56 percent to 63 percent. According to Sandy Baum of the Urban Institute,“...it’s not that colleges are spending more money to educate students. It’s that they have to get that money from someplace to replace their lost state funding — and that’s from tuition and fees from students and families.” Colleges use the money from the students to pay for their college team.

However you might be thinking that some of that high tuition money could be used to maintain the staff and building, but if the colleges didn’t spend money on unnecessary programs or if they lowered the amount of people on their sports team then the colleges wouldn't need to increase the tuition funds. According to Los Angeles Times, colleges are significantly spending hundreds or dollars on their college sports than on education. Reducing the amount of people on a team would help fix this issue and placing a limit on the amount of students allowed to enter the school without raising the tuition costs.

In conclusion this is why colleges need to lower their tuition so that millions of Americans can stay out of debt. We need to stop colleges from increasing tuition prices because of unnecessary programs. Once your president if you can stop this from happening then millions of Americans will stay out of college debt. As our future president I hope you can make a difference to millions of Americans.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Neil B.
