Abortion and Minimum Wage
My essay is about stopping abortion and raising minimum wage.
Dear next president:
My name is Kara Neuberger and I'm a 10th grader in North Dakota. Although there are many controversial issues in the United States there are two main ones I'd like to address.
First, I would like to talk about minimum wage. $7.25 is too low for anyone to live on. Increasing the minimum wage would reduce poverty. A person working full time on minimum wage only makes $15,080 a year. If the government would raise minimum wage it would also reduce the amount of welfare spending. I am a waitress and dishwasher making minimum wage and due to the cost of living I can't save for my future or afford anything. Raising minimum wage to a fair wage would help a lot of people in poverty.
The second thing I would like to address is abortion. In my opinion abortion is wrong all together. I think abortion is murder. The killing of human is wrong even if that human is unborn. A baby's heart starts beating about 18 days from conception. Also, fetuses feel pain during the abortion process. There are people who are raped and become pregnant but another solution would be to find a loving family to adopt the baby. A solution to abortion would be for educators/teachers and parents to start providing more information about family planning, and birth control methods. These decisions are up to you.
I think the two controversial issues the next president needs to address is minimum wage and abortion.
Sincerely,
Kara
