Dear Future President,

Abortion is a controversial issue is the United States. Pro-life or pro- choice has been a constant debate between Americans. Abortion is legal in every state due to the constitution protecting the right of abortion being a woman’s choice. It is time for the law to be changed. Abortion is wrong.

An anonymous comment on the debate “Pro-life vs. Pro-choice” states, “It is not your body it is not your business.” While this sentence makes a valid point people are overlooking the irony of the whole thing. The argument that it is not your body so it is not your business should also apply to the child the woman is trying to abort. That child is not choosing to be murdered, it’s the child’s body so they should have a say in how they pursue it.

“The neural pathways are present for pain to be experienced quite early by unborn babies,” explains Steven Calvin, M.D., perinatologist. A picture shows a baby with a mouth wide open as if he was in excruciating pain. Unborn babies are human and have a right to life just as we do. The constitution protects the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, including babies. It is not fair to take the life of an innocent child who cannot stand up for their rights. If a mother does not wish to raise a child or is not in the position to, she should just put the child up for adoption. There are plenty of families who would love to give a child a chance at life.

Although I feel like Pro-life is the right way to be, danger to the woman can be an exception. If abortion is the only way to save the woman or keep her in good health, then legally she should be able to choose. In the case of rape or not being in the position to take care of a child, adoption is the right option. My stepmom can no longer have children and she would gladly give a baby a wonderful childhood, if given the opportunity. Every time a mistake ends in abortion there is a woman out there begging to be blessed with a child. Adoption is a much better choice to save the lives of babies who will never get to speak up for themselves if we do not give them a chance to.

Abortion is legal in every state and can be obtained through a few sessions of counseling and the right amount of time. Abortions laws need to prohibit abortion in all cases danger to the woman. Four out of ten unintended pregnancies are aborted. 21% of all pregnancies in the United States end in abortion. These numbers are growing every time we allow an abortion for the wrong reasons. Please take a look at my argument and think about the revision of the laws. Thank you for taking your time to read my letter.
