Political Correctness

This letter explains my concerns for political correctness in this country

Dear Mr. President,

My name is Patrick St. John and i'm 14 years old. I think there are many problems in this country, but one stands out the most and that is political correctness. Political correctness i think had very good intentions of being kind and censoring racist or sexist speech. I feel like political correctness has been taken too far. It seems like that whenever people even try to talk about a sensitive subject, even if they are just curious, people are shamed for “hate speech” or racism, sexism, or religious intolerance.

Some people think that political correctness is good and i think it’s great that they have their own opinion about this subject.thats why this country is so great, because people can have their own opinions and different perspectives on certain subjects. I think that it is ironic though, because if we are entitled to our own opinion then why is it that whenever someone thinks that political correctness is a bad thing they are criticized. The same can go for the people that think political correctness is a good thing then they are called idiotic or stupid. Some people that believe political correctness is good think that without political correctness then everyone will be mean to each other and not live in peace because of hate. My opinion is that i think people who believe that political correctness want to hear good and nice things, but are afraid of hearing the truth about themselves and each other, but that's just my opinion.

I'm not trying to say political correctness is terrible, but i am saying that we as a country should just not be so sensitive and be truthful towards each other in a respectable way. In all honesty i'm just a concerned citizen worried about a future where this country is run by politically correct presidents.

Sincerely,

Patrick St. John
