Animal Abuse

We the people, led by you, need to take the first step in stopping this God forbidden, frowned upon action. I strongly believe that as a nation, as a whole, we can end animal abuse altogether.

Dear Future President,

I am writing to you today to discuss a very serious topic nationally and worldwide. Animal abuse is the act of cruelty, neglect or intentional harm towards an animal, and it occurs everyday, all around the clock in all corners of our world. Many people believe that animal abuse is only when one physically inflicts harm on an animal, but that’s not true. Animal abuse includes starving animals, forcing them to fight, and many more cruel acts that need to be brought to an end. And we the people, led by you need to take the first step in stopping this God forbidden, frowned upon action. Though it won’t be easy, I strongly believe that as a nation, as a whole, we can end animal abuse altogether.

Every ten seconds another innocent animal is abused, neglected, or forced to fight. This means that roughly six times a minute a heartless being is harming and putting the life of a defenseless animal in danger. This matters to me because as a dog-lover and pet owner we all should be the protectors of our beloved creatures, and all those inflicting pain on animals should be held accountable for their actions. But this can’t happen unless you, as the leader of our country takes the first step in fighting animal abuse.

There are multiple ways for you as our leader to prevent animal abuse, or at least decline the number of reported cases. First of all, you could start off by lobbying for stricter laws and regulations in order to minimize the number of animal abusers in the US. This could include longer jail sentences for those proven guilty of abuse. Also, in every community another animal shelter should be opened, and used as an adoption center for household pets. Lastly, I believe that you should make it mandatory for all those who witness animal abuse to report it to the police. If not those who don’t will face legal consequences. Although many people don’t believe animal abuse is that large of an issue, they’re wrong because animal abuse is just as important as everything else on the news like police brutality, natural disasters and the all the wars going on right now. I really hope that as our next president you and the rest of our government will work together in decimating animal abuse forever. God bless you, and God bless America.

Sincerely, Logan B.
