Should We Have School Uniforms?
Parents and teachers have been at war over whether students should or shouldn’t wear uniforms.
Dear Next President,
School uniforms have been questioned since the start of education. Parents and teachers have been at war over whether students should or shouldn’t wear uniforms. 1 out of 5 public schools have uniforms. Instead of using money for uniforms, use it to make the education better. This is what I think you as the next president should take into consideration.
Some people say that school uniforms decrease violence and bullying. Also it seems to eliminate the competition between students about fashion. However, there are other ways to end violence like learning how to control your anger without using violence. For example, when you have a bad day at school and you want to talk to someone about it you can go to see a guidance counselor. Instead of wasting all that money on uniforms, schools could use that money for buying new textbooks to help kids learn more. You could talk to your teacher and tell them what's going on. So then they can take care of whatever issues may be causing violence and bullying.
The reason why I think that we should get rid of school uniforms is because students should be able to be themselves.
My school doesn’t have that much bullying because my school's principal blocks out bullying a lot. We have a monthly meeting about bullying. We actually have a period to go outside for the students who show self control. In conclusion, students’ education is more important than wearing uniforms. Please don't let schools have uniforms, and focus more on education.
Sincerely, Emeili
