Black Lives Do Matter

A letter in hope for a change, regarding police brutality in America.

RE: Black Lives Do Matter

Dear Future President,

I am a current resident in North Miami Beach, FL, and I am writing this letter because of one of the biggest issue we have here in the United States, and that is Police Brutality.

There have been many cases of police brutality happening around the US for the last couple of years, in most cases, it occurred with African Americans. Statistically speaking, by July 2016, police have killed more than 194 innocent black people just in 2016 alone. In most cases, justice wasn’t brought for the black families that had their loved one ripped away from them. Police have abused their power; they are supposed to protect us, not to kill.

As an American youth, who wants a better future for the US, something needs to be done with this. Justice needs to be served. There have been too many killings done by the police where the murderer was let off the hook, simply because of their ranking as a police. We need to protect our people, more importantly, black lives. After all America is supposed to be “indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.

I am asking you, as our president, to do something. Raise awareness, put out a new law, or anything that can and will protect the lives of black men, women, and children. The future of America depends on this. We cannot kill people. Our people.

Thank you for considering this matter.

Sincerely,

Cindy Komolvasri
